Schizophrenia Triptych

Schizophrenia is a mental illness that causes those who have it to experience visual and auditory hallucinations, paranoia, depression, fear and delusions. Despite this, many people tend to depict characterize people with this illness as monsters or crazy. To promote better treatment towards people with schizophrenia, I made a series of poster's that depict how people with the illness feel when attacked by the public.

The inspiration of these posters come from Rorschach tests. This is a psychological test in which patients are shown a series of inkblots and are asked to describe what they see and what feelings the inkblots invoke within them. The results of this test typically show a person’s personality characteristics and their emotional state. I found the connection between seeing images in inkblots to the hallucinations people with schizophrenia sometimes see. I attempted to make the inkblots look more monstrous as to reflect how terrifying the hallucinations people with schizophrenia sometimes must deal with.
